Why Are Support at Home (SAH) Invoices GST-Free?

Modified on Wed, 24 Jun at 2:12 PM

Many services delivered under the Australian Government’s Support at Home (SAH) program are GST-free in accordance with Australian GST legislation.

Services that form part of government-funded aged care programs may be exempt from GST when they are provided to eligible participants. This means providers should not add GST to eligible services, and invoices should display GST as $0.00 or indicate that the service is GST-free.

Examples of services that are commonly GST-free under Support at Home include:

  • Personal care services
  • Nursing services
  • Allied health services (where applicable)
  • Domestic assistance and daily living support
  • Services delivered as part of an approved aged care care plan

Providers are responsible for ensuring their invoices comply with Australian taxation requirements. If you are unsure whether GST applies to your services, please seek advice from your accountant or tax adviser.
